Statement Regarding Public Safety Following Fourth of July Weekend Incidents in the City of Rochester

The Monroe County Republican Committee extends its deepest concerns for everyone affected by the mass shooting incidents in Rochester over the Fourth of July weekend and is calling on Democratic leaders from Monroe County and the State of New York to take immediate action to stop the violence.

“Public safety remains a shared responsibility that requires cooperation among community members, law enforcement agencies, local leaders, service providers, and residents. Unfortunately, we are witnessing the direct consequence of failed public safety reforms that local and state Democratic leaders have put into place over the past decade, and our citizens are paying the price,” said Monroe County Republican Chairman Peter Elder. “We demand a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding these events and support efforts to identify measures to reduce violence and improve neighborhood safety.”
